857 – eine Crew bestehend aus drei MCs und einem DJ – hat sich die Erhaltung von innovativem HipHop in Großbuchstaben auf die Fahne geschrieben. Ganz nach ihrem Motto „The Cure for the Cliché“ räumen die New Yorker mit sämtlichen negativen Assoziationen auf, an die ein Normalo bei dem Wort „HipHop“ möglicherweise zu denken vermag. Kein Gangsta-Rap, kein Bling Bling, keine dicken Autos – vielmehr führen 857 den Gedanken ihrer Vorbilder (The Roots, De La Soul, Outkast, Fugees uvm) fort, und What Up hat sie dazu befragt. 857 im Netz
